OIL AND GAS

Africa as a continent is known if its deep resources in minerals especially oil and gas exploration. We provide advisory services in in oil and gas matters within the Sub-Saharan Africa. We have created established relationships with industry experts, government departments, financiers and business stakeholders. Our advisory services include a full value chain both downstream and upstream exploration, production to liquefied natural gas projects, storage facilities and pipelines, gas commercialisations, including project structuring/development, construction and financing services for all scale size projects.

ENERGY

Energy is a crucial component in all economies. It plays an extremely major role in developing and supporting Africa’s growing economy. The power industry is moving towards alternative energy sources, including renewables and gas and independent power investment, off-grid and captive power solutions. Huge investment is required to meet current energy demands, especially in greenfield development. There are also associated energy infrastructure developments required which include solar panels, pipelines, energy storage terminals and transmission and distribution infrastructure. We provide a hybrid knowledge which includes both local and international expertise. We also possess very strong relationships. We service clients with energy investments, projects and operating activities within the African region. We further act in multi-jurisdictional projects in this sector across the continent. INFRASTRUCTURE

The infrastructure industry has demonstrated to play a significant role in developing and supporting Africa’s growing economies as well as its population. Procurement is recognised as a key driver in the sector. However, for these developments (i.e., strategic infrastructure projects) to be a succeed, it is crucial for the private sector investment and Public Private Partnership to support these developments. Our experience supports various disciplines such as regulatory, procurement, project development and finance, disputes and provides legal solutions including feasibility, structuring, and drafting of project agreements for project development and eventually project financing.

MINING

We assign a specialised team that understands the complex commercial drivers impacting the mining industry, to advise clients in relation to their mining projects. Construction projects related to infrastructure, energy and natural resources, are the key drivers of economic growth. As such, we offer dedicated, experienced construction and engineering lawyers who provide legal and commercial solutions, from the concept phase, throughout construction as well as operation and maintenance. Drafting and negotiating of all contractual arrangements whether bespoke contracts or customising the suite of FIDIC and other standard forms of construction contracts.
Providing advice on the security packages, including bonds and guarantees, risk mitigation, insurance and the impact of regulatory and environmental legislation.

In relation to road projects: We assist government, private sector operators, and financiers of the public transport industry with unlocking and seeing to the successful roll out of road projects. We assist with concession agreements related to the construction of the roads as well as other contract and we provide regulatory advice. We work with financiers of the public transport industry, advising clients on the licensing issues and the financing of public transport operations.

TRANSPORTATION

Traffic congestion has posed as a huge problem in major cities. The rolling out of road projects / tenders has been a more suitable way that Governments have adopted in alleviating this problem. Our team has extensive knowledge and is well positioned to provide advice on all relevant legal issues, including the regulatory issues, competition law, intellectual property, financial services and insurance.

In relation to rail projects: We offer specialised expertise, covering any legal, regulatory and tax issue in order to support the project. We advise key players throughout the value chain, including operating companies, locomotive/rolling stock suppliers (lease/finance), financiers, export credit agencies, manufacturers, governments, state-owned entities and various public and other regulatory bodies. We act for the public sector and for the private sector, primarily through financial services providers, funders and financers, and in the space of Public Private Partnership transactions.

We assist clients in structuring and in responding to rail tender invitations across Africa. We advise rail infrastructure development, financing, leasing, operation, maintenance arrangements and procurement.
